Ladies Boxe Thaï

About Class

Muay Thai, also called Thai Boxing is a very complete sport combining very ancient techniques such as kicks (circular kicks to push back the opponent), elbows (only authorized in certain professional competitions), knees (particularly used in hand-to-hand combat) and punches from English Boxing.

The fighters have to be in a constant state of alert, because the punches can come from any direction. Grappling allows the boxer to take a breather.

Throws don’t give any points but are a way to escape from hand-to-hand combat and psychologically dominate the opponent.

Muay Thaï has the same rules as traditional boxing. Punches can be made to the whole body (face, chest and legs).

The Thai boxer wears gloves and shorts as in traditional boxing. However, he is barefoot.

Fights last 5 rounds of 3 minutes with a 2-minute break between each round. As in traditional boxing the fight is won with a knockout, or by points. Three judges count up the opponent’s points and, if there isn’t a knockout, the fighter who has won the most points is declared the winner.

For many people, doing muay thaï is also a way to learn about a country and a culture.
